DEBUT ALBUM

Mark Woods will release his debut album SEA I TOLD YOU in Spring 2013.

Short Bio

Mark Woods formed the punky rock band "dIRt" in the mid nineties with founding member Paul Connor on drums. Kev Hiscox joined on bass in 1998 and the band recorded some demos with Shopper Connor at the woodshed and scream in Carshalton, the last being “Rules of the river” EP released in 2003.

Mark was then asked to join Croydon soul-rock outfit, 'Do Me Bad Things' as one of their lead singers. Unexpectedly the 9 piece band then signed with Must destroy records and then again to Atlantic Records in 2005 releasing the album “Yes” in the same year. Touring and commitments put “dirt” on the backburner until mid 2005 by then the band had changed their name to “Junkyard Choir” due to the band having a more blues/polka/ waltzy feel.

In 2006 DMBT spilt up and the start of 2007 saw Junkyard Choir release their first EP "Trying to save the world” produced by Pete Lyons and what would be Paul Connor’s last with the band. Tom Herbert (captains of the citadel) joined in early 2007 and the band released three further ep’s (“Delope” 2008, “When the ship goes down” 2009 and “Dead Anchor Blues” 2010) Mark also released a solo ep “Under the big smoke” in may 2009.

Mark started a side project “Splinter Group” in 2010 the band released two eps 2010’s “Splinterville” and 2012’s “When in rome eat lions”. Other side projects have included playing in mogwai meets Floyd in the experimental songscape band “Bardick” since early 2000’s. Mark briefly joined a-capella group “The Centrales” in 2011-2012. In late 2011 Kevin Hiscox left Junkyard choir and the band drafted in Del boy Williamson from Tom’s old band “Captains of the citadel” on bass in early 2012. The band recorded a fifth EP titled “Vita Nova”

2013 sees the release of the third Splinter Group EP. Mark will be releasing a solo record “Sea I told you” in spring and Junkyard Choir will be releasing their debut album sometime throughout the year………….
